Although the guillotine appears to have brought Joseph-Ignace Guillotin eternal fame, or at least his name, the doctor is said to have always regretted to see his name attached to this executioner’s tool. In a time where class justice ruled, dr. Guillotin argued in favour of a “humane” execution for people of all ranks. This eventually led to the development and introduction of the guillotine in 1792. However, Guillotin was not the inventor. Dr. Antoine Louise should have the credits for that.
