The Belgian Leo Hendrik Arthur Baekeland (1863-1944) made a fortune in the
USA developing the photographic paper velox. He discovered that having success
does not always mean having friends: when he revisited Belgium he threw a
party for his former friends and colleagues in Ghent, but only 6 people showed
up. He went back to the USA and swore never to set foot in Ghent again. In
the USA he continued his study of chemic's, and invented bakelite.

To vary the engine’s power output, the stroke frequency is varied by the frequency control valve. Innas developed a large valve with an extremely fast opening response time. The valve is pilot operated. The main valve consists of two valve bodies. After switching the pilot valve the main valve opens within 1.5 milliseconds. |
