The German Rudolf Diesel (1858-1913) who gave his name to a motor fuel and
a combustion engine was as good an engineer and inventor as he was a spender.
His inventions made him a multi millionaire, but he managed to get in financial
troubles due to his flamboyant life style. Diesel drowned under mysterious
circumstances in the North Sea. His body was never buried.

A cycle starts with the piston–plunger
combination in the bottom dead centre: most to the right. The electronic
control opens the frequency control valve. This increases the pressure
in the compressure cylinder, moving the piston-plunger to the left. Simultaneously,
air is compressed in the combustion cylinder and oil is sucked into the
power cylinder. |
