Limoenman or: ‘Lemon man’ was the original name of the Dutch ancestors of André Citroën (1878-1935). Descendants thought Citroen (lemon) to be a better sounding name, which changed into ‘Citroën’ (in French: citron) after one of the ‘lemon men’ moved to France. André Citroën was the first European to produce cars in series. André was an innovator who truly believed in the power of technological progress. He invented the “double chevron” still depicted in the emblem of the car company today.
