Parallel HyDrid Drive

The highly efficient Floating Cup technology can also be applied in a parallel hybrid system. In such a system, the main mechanical transmission remains in tact. When driving in urban traffic or in a traffic jam, the engine delivers extra power to an accumulator forcing the engine to run in a better point of operation. Furthermore braking energy is recuperated. The parallel hydrid drive can achieve a reduction of fuel and CO2 emissions of 15%. The cost penalty connected to the addition of the parallel hydraulic system is considerably lower than the addition of a parallel electric system.
