The German Rudolf Diesel (1858-1913) who gave his name to a motor fuel and a combustion engine was as good an engineer and inventor as he was a spender. His inventions made him a multi millionaire, but he managed to get in financial troubles due to his flamboyant life style. Diesel drowned under mysterious circumstances in the North Sea. His body was never buried.
