Serendipity, the gift of being able to make delightful discoveries by pure accident and intelligence, was introduced in a letter in 1754 by the author Horace Walpole, after The Three Princes of Serendip (the ancient, Arabic name for Sri Lanka), a fairy tale. During their travels, these princes discovered all kinds of things they were not looking for.
,,Le hasard ne favorise que les esprits préparés.’’
